Ipratropium Bromide(medicine) and COPD(health condition….. HI please check the attached files in the attachments for marking rubric and assignment template. The file named Case study questions is to be used for this assignment. This file has seven questions and information about how these questions are to be answered. Basically, you will need to create a case study of a patient with COPD and Ipratropium Bromide (the medicine administered to the patient with COPD). There are seven questions that need to be answered related to the condition and medication. The selected condition is COPD and medicine is Ipratropium Bromide,,….Some of the resources which are to be used for answering the assignment question….Registered nurse standards for practice

Description
Assessment Task 2: Written Assignment: Case Study
Goal:
The purpose of this task is for you to develop a case study in relation to a nursing practice to demonstrate your application of knowledge to safe, evidence based assessment, planning, therapeutic intervention and evaluation.
Product:
Individual written assignment
Format:
You will select a nursing practice from the options made available. You will assess, plan, implement a therapeutic intervention and evaluate the nursing practice based on your analysis. Further details will be provided on Blackboard.
Criteria:
You will be assessed on your ability to:
Select, analyse and interpret the evidence supporting the nursing practice
Determine safe and evidence-based assessment, planning, interventions and evaluation specific to the nursing practice
Written presentation including structure, grammar, application of Harvard referencing protocol

Content
1. What font size do I use to write my assignment? Please use 11-12 font, colour black and double spaced.
2. Do I need to write a brief introduction/explanation of what the chosen drug and medical condition is? No, you do not need to write an introduction for this assignment. You do not need to explain what the drug is or how it works. Knowledge and understanding of what the drug is and how it should be used will be demonstrated through developing and writing your case study.
3. Question 3 around the specific safety requirements around the administration of the drug-what are you specifically after here and can you provide an example? I am looking for key safety requirements that you would need to know about the medication prior to administration. An example would be when you administer certain che********apeutic drugs that you are required to wear particular PPE while handling the medication otherwise you could expose yourself or others to the agent. Another example might be you would consider having naloxone available and ready for a patient who might be on a Morphine PCA.
4. Question 4, Develop nursing interventions from your assessment finding and include at least 3 interventions for the medication being administered. Nursing interventions are based on your assessment findings and do not necessarily constitute administering another medication so please be careful with this one. You need to have written Independent Nursing Interventions. Think about Florence/Fred and the upcoming surgical procedure of a bowel resection that they will be having. What sort of nursing interventions would you want to ensure you do with Florence/Fred to prevent pneumonia or a DVT? Yes, I would administer the Enoxaparin and apply the TEDS but that is a doctors order. It is part of your required cares but as a registered nurse, you could help Florence/Fred mobilise early (prevention of DVT and pneumonia), deep breathing and coughing (prevention of postoperative pneumonia). Getting Florence/Fred to mobilise early and to do deep breathing and coughing exercises are nursing interventions. For those of you who are really good with your nursing diagnosis, the assessment and interventions should relate directly back to those. Rationale for the interventions? I would want to encourage Florence/Fred to mobilise early and do deep breathing and coughing exercises because it will help prevent DVTs and postoperative pneumonia.
5. You are to administer the medication from step one as one of your nursing interventions. Reflect on the clinical practice required relating to your chosen medication. Include the following: (500 words) • A rationale for the route of administration • Indications for administration (what conditions is it recommended to treat?) • The specific safety requirements around the administration • Education the patient might need • Contraindications for the administration • Potential side effects/adverse effects The answer to this question should not be written as a 1st person reflection. It is a reflection on why you decided on that particular route of administration relating back to the indication. Think about the context of the case study and what you have developed and the medication that you would be administering. What specific safety requirement would you need to consider? (see above question 3). What education would you need to provide to the patient? Clear links between the case scenario that you developed and the medication to be administered are crucial. The same goes for contraindications and potential side effects/adverse effects.
When you are using your resources or the literature in looking up the presenting condition and medication you will see a lot of information. Some of this information will not be relevant to the condition or the medication. You need to go through and filter out and decide what is irrelevant to your case scenario and the medication you are administering. Tell me what is relevant and how it relates back to the decision you have made around the route, indications, safety requirements, education, contraindications and potential side effects.
6. From my research Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an umbrella term that includes a number of long-term lung conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis and chronic asthma. Is it required that I discuss COPD as a whole or narrow it down to a particular medical condition such as emphysema or asthma?
This is your case study and I am happy to accept either.
7. Can we use the ‘rights’ of medication administration as an answer to question 3? I would recommend that you do not. The ‘rights’ of medication administration are specific safety components but this is what you learned in the first year and I would expect at this time in the nursing program these would be embedded into your practice already. The answer to the question needs to extend further into the safety requirements of administrating the medication. Please look at question 3 in the task 2 questions and answers page as I do give you two examples.
8. Can I write the case study in 1st person? No, it is academic writing so you should not be using 1st person. You can use first person for question number 6 as it is a critical reflection of your own practice.
9. Can I use dot points or abbreviations? No dot points and no abbreviations. You can use acronyms though.
